Your Tapestry just the way YOU want it.
Commissioning a tapestry, what do I need to know?
What works best?
Photos or Images?
Both work well! You can commission a tapestry by sending a photo of what you would like to have made. For best results, photos of large items in focus work are ideal.
These can be for example:
-
Portraits
-
Photos of of pets
-
Works of art.
Tapestry Size
Small or Large?
When it comes to tapestries size does matter. The Larger the tapestry the better the quality of the of the tapestry look. Think of photos with low resolution compared with higher resolution, the photos with lower resolution look grainier compared to the photos with high resolution.
So the Design is done…?
What’s Next?
We will send you a preview of what the tapestry will look like for your approval.
This is a very rough estimate however as the colors translate differently from digital format to actual beads. This means that the demo will be mostly for the size and general outlines.
And then?
It all depends on
- The size of the tapestry, the larger the tapestry the longer it takes to complete.
- The number of bead colors.
- The time needed to gather all the supplies required.
- The time needed to have the tapestry framed.
When you place your order, you will be given a tentative date of completion. If you are placing an order for a gift please allow plenty of time for completion of the tapestry.
With your permission, we will publish the progress of the tapestry on our blog and social media sites, provided it is not a gift of course.
Everyone knows how paintings are made, or even embroidery, but tapestries are rare. This especially true for large beaded tapestries as they take time and meticulous work to complete. So, upon completion of the project, you will receive a Slideshow of the “Making of the Tapestry”. This slideshow depicts the weaving of the tapestry in all its phases and stages.
You will also have details such as the number of colors and the number of beads, the size of the work unframed etc.
Our completed pieces include framing with special anti glare museum glass that serves to protect and preserve it. However, you may choose to have your tapestry hanging on a rod, as they have been throughout history. You can also choose to frame it yourself, in such a case the price will reflect that.
