Don’t you just hate it…
When you purchase a pattern and then you need to figure out how much every bead color in grams you need… at Beading Treasures that amount is always provided for you… but to help you out with the patterns that only provide you with the number of beads per color we have created a….
Calculator for the amount of beads in grams.
What you need to know first
Not all bead types weigh the same. It depends on the type of bead and the finish.
For example, Duracoat beads are always heavier than other types of beads because of the extra coating on them to make them…. well… more durable. It is all in the name.
So what I have discovered while ordering my beads by the gram and then weighing them to be sure after receiving them that they are the right amount ordered…. I often ran out of some types of beads. And so to avoid that I have determined that the calculations for the amount of beads in a gram should be a conservative 180.
Yes, I may have a little leftover but it is much better than having to stop the work on the tapestry, ordering more of a particular color, and having to wait for it to arrive.
Side note…. any local bead store is about an hour and a half away by car… I do support them though.
I order from them online.
How does it work?
You can access it by tapping this button.
And then all you need to do is enter the number of beads for the color you need.
See the example below.
This is really handy when you have a whole bead legend to go through.
I use this calculator all the time and now I am sharing it with you!!
You may want to bookmark this page so that you do not have to go searching for it later.
Although you can find it listed in the menu under Resources.
